Port of Harlingen will again be the proud main sponsor of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen in 2026. The Harlingen Sail Foundation and Port of Harlingen announced this on Thursday 18 September during the meeting of the Frisian Tall Ships Club, the business club of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen. From 3 to 6 July 2026, Harlingen will host this international sailing event for the fourth time. Dozens of international Tall Ships can then be admired in the port of Harlingen.
Chairman Sjaak Smeding of Harlingen Sail and managing director of Port of Harlingen Paul Pot, jointly hoisted a special partner flag in the rigging of the Gulden Leeuw, the ship on which the networking reception was held. 'We are extremely proud that Harlingen may once again host the Tall Ships Races and that we can link our name as main sponsor to this event,' says Paul Pot. 'We are already looking forward to this wonderful nautical event. All those centuries-old tall ships calling at our port and the tens of thousands of visitors to the event, that's what you do it for.'
Lieuwe Krol, director of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen, is also pleased that Port of Harlingen wants to commit to the event again. 'Harlingen is perceived by the international fleet as a particularly hospitable port city and the port authority plays an important role in this. We are currently forging our plans for next year's event. Port of Harlingen will also get a nice role in that.'
