Registration for trainees at Tall Ships Races Harlingen 2026 runs fast

Although it is just under nine months away from the start of the Tall Ships Races, half the number of places available for trainees has already been filled. Young people aged between 15 and 25 can sail as trainees on the leg from Aarhus in Denmark to Harlingen during the event. They will board in Aarhus on 27 June and arrive in Harlingen on 3 July. That is the start of the four-day event.

'Registration is going well,' says Lieuwe Krol, director of the Tall Ships Races Harlingen. We therefore urge young people who want to join the Tall Ships Races as trainee to register as soon as possible. Then you are assured of a place and you have enough time to prepare for the trip. For example, we offer training in fundraising. If you register now, we still have enough time to help you raise the registration fee of €1,250.'

For all

All young people aged between 15 and 25 can apply to be a trainee at the Tall Ships Races Harlingen. 'We think it is important that everyone can participate, regardless of knowledge, experience or background. It does not matter whether a young person has sailing experience or not, what the financial possibilities of the young people or the parents are and whether someone has mental or physical limitations. For example, there are special tall ships on which disabled trainees can travel along.'

The Tall Ships Races Harlingen is from 3 to 6 July 2026. Trainees will also follow an unforgettable programme during the event in Harlingen, including, for example, the Crew Parade through the city.
