Ticket sales for Sail InZicht have started. With Sail InZicht from 21 to 27 June, the pre-fun for Sail Harlingen begins. With this programme, in addition to pre-fun, we also offer Harlingen residents background and depth on themes that touch on life by the sea and life in the sea. With an exhibition, film evenings, a special pub quiz and two Captain's Dinners with in-depth discussions, there is something for everyone.
Exhibition Harlingen by the Sea, through the eyes of an artist
Several artists present their view of Harlingen in this exhibition with varying art forms. From acrylic to watercolour and photography to object art everything is related to the port city of Harlingen. The exhibition opens on Sunday 21 June and can be admired all week afterwards in Milûk.
Two film nights: Women & the Wind and Ocean Film Tour
On Monday 22 June at 19:30, Sail InZicht presents the film Women & the Wind, an inspiring documentary about three women crossing the North Atlantic. Aboard a 50-year-old wooden catamaran, they dive into the deep and fragile collaboration between humans and nature. With their journey, they chart the plastic pollution in the ocean.
The second film can be seen on Wednesday 24 June at 2pm and 7.30pm. This evening, Sail InZicht presents the Ocean Film Tour. With no fewer than five films, you will be taken on an exciting voyage of discovery of people bravely taking on new adventures and embracing change. The films take you through the vast open ocean, rugged coastlines and extraordinary encounters, where you can feel the intensity of life in its purest form.
The film screenings are at Milûk. Tickets can also be purchased through Milûk.
Open Afternoon at DOK5
DOK5 is a creative breeding ground in a former timber shed on Willemshaven. During the Open Afternoon here, you can watch how new products are made from old banners at the Tast-baar foundation, take a virtual swim with dolphins using VR goggles, learn more about the dangers of plastic in the sea with Sterke Yerke and SkoônSeun in the Do, See and Experience Centre, discover the history of blue pottery and visit various temporary exhibitions. In addition, Wetterskip Fryslân will be present this afternoon. They will give a unique behind-the-scenes look at their work. They will tell how exotic plants and animals are tracked down, controlled and combated, and show how this works in practice.
Captain's Dinner and In Conversation With
A delicious maritime meal at Milûk will be followed by an inspiring conversation, led by Simone Scheffer. On Tuesday 23 June, she will talk to Florian Dirkse. He is co-founder of The Ocean Cleanup and shares how he made his dream a reality. On Thursday 25 June, Simone Scheffer will talk to Astrid Pascal and Marijke Sjollema after the Captain's Dinner.
