The Sail InZicht programme kicked off on Sunday 21 June with the exhibition ‘Harlingen by the Sea – Through the Eyes of an Artist’. From acrylics to watercolours and from photography to object art, everything is related to the port city of Harlingen. The exhibition can be viewed at Milûk until 27 June. The exhibition opening also marks the start of the four-day Sail InZicht programme, with a different inspiring activity each day.

Monday 22 June at 7.30 pm: Film: Women & the Wind
*Women & the Wind* is a documentary that follows three women as they cross the North Atlantic. Aboard a 50-year-old wooden catamaran, they explore the profound and fragile partnership between humankind and nature. Their journey documents the plastic pollution across the ocean.

Tuesday 23 June between 2.00 pm and 5.00 pm: Open Afternoon at DOK5
Featuring, amongst others:
- Swimming with wild dolphins through VR glasses.
- Find out more about the dangers of plastic in the sea with Sterke Jerke at the hands-on, watch-and-experience centre and SkoônSeun.
- Discovering the history of Frisian blue pottery.
- Visit various temporary exhibitions, from Wetterskip Fryslân and expedition Harlingen, among others.
Wetterskip Fryslân – On the hunt for exotic species: discover our surprising aquatic inhabitants
What exactly are exotics? Why do they sometimes pose a problem for our wildlife and waterways? And how do we ensure that water remains safe, clean and manageable? You get a unique look behind the scenes of Wetterskip Fryslân's work. Employees explain how exotic animals and plants are tracked down, controlled and combated, and show how this works in practice. An instructive and surprising experience about species that do not really belong here.
Expedition Harlingen
Expedition Harlingen reveals the story of the centuries-old port city of Harlingen.

Astrid Pascal (58) sailed the world without any sailing experience. She did not know what port
whether it was port or starboard, but she thought — just like her childhood idol Pippi Longstocking: “I’ve never done it before, so I reckon I can do it.”
Marijke Sjollema from the Dolphin Swim Club
After a special encounter with a wild dolphin, Marijke Sjollema founded the Dolphin Swim Club in 2015. The organisation uses art, nature and virtual reality to make therapeutic experiences with dolphins accessible - completely animal-friendly and without real captive animals.
With VR goggles, visitors can experience what it is like to swim among wild dolphins and experience the calming effect for themselves. During the presentation, Marijke also talks about how this experience is now being used in more than 4,500 hospitals worldwide.
Florian Dirkse
Florian Dirkse is co-founder of The Ocean Cleanup and shares how he turned his dream into reality. As a sailor and presenter, he inspires others to think big and take action. Simone Scheffer talks to him about adventure, dreams and sustainability.

Friday 26 June at 7.30 pm: Maritime pub quiz
During the Tall Ships Races, we cast off the ropes for a cosy, accessible evening full of questions with a maritime touch, Harlingen humour and teamwork. On the beautiful cinema screen, with impressive sound - as if you were standing on the bridge yourself. And yes, the best steersman on shore will have a chance this time too.
