The Aebelina is a historic wooden ferry dating from 1861, built by Eeltje Holtrop van der Zee. Following the bankruptcy of its first owner, the ship was purchased in 1873 by Wybe Peekema, who named it ‘Dorp Grouw’. This original and fast ship was lost during the 20th century. Subsequently, between 2004 and 2009, a reconstruction of the Aebelina was carried out. This is the only wooden skûtsje to have been built since 1900. It is also the only wooden skûtsje still in service.
