Esprit is a cold-cast wooden vessel with modern schooner rigging, it has a gaff jib and Bermuda mainsail. She was built at the Bremer Bootsbau Vegesack shipyard in 1995. In 1997, the ship won the Cutty Sark Trophy for her efforts to promote international understanding with a 50/50 German and English crew.
