Rupel symbolises hope, willpower and cooperation. This tallship was built in the early 1990s to combat unemployment. In the Rupel region in the province of Antwerp, unemployment was rising rapidly and countless more shipbuilders were threatened with redundancy. For five years, jobseekers from all over Flanders built the tallship. As of 1996, this two-master is seaworthy.
