In 1871, the original vessel ‘De Drie Gebroeders’ was built for the three De Haan brothers from Wierum, specially designed for heavy and dangerous coastal fishing in the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. The brothers used the vessel for over ten years, until the night of 5 to 6 March 1883, when it was damaged during a storm. Just over a century later, the It Fiskerskip Foundation decided to create an exact replica. Between 2004 and 2008, a great deal of hard work went into recreating the vessel as faithfully as possible.
